P1060407Gite du Midi is perfectly located for a fabulous skiing holiday.  We are only 10 minutes drive to La Mongie which is part of the Grand Tourmalet ski area, the largest in the French Pyrenees.  With over 100km of fantastic skiing and snowboarding it also encompasses the lovely tree lined resort of Bareges.  There is free and ample parking at La Mongie as well as a bus service up and down from the resort.  The bus stop is located about 500m from our drive.  There are plenty of restaurants and bars and if you want a break from skiing why not try a husky sleigh ride or take a scenic trip by horse drawn sledge.  Ski hire and ski schools can be found at both resorts and we are happy to help with booking these for you.



P1060570 The stunning resort of Payolle is only a ten minute drive away from Gite du Midi.  Here you will find 50km of cross country skiing passing through forests and around its beautiful lake.  There are trails to suit all levels from a short 1.8km to the challenging 20km L’Isard, all set in spectacular scenery.  There is a lakeside restaurant along with cafes, bars and local produce shops.  This is a wonderful area for raquettes (snow shoe walking) with well marked trails.



Pic du Midi At 2877 meters above sea level the Pic du Midi is the most spectacular place  to view the complete panorama of the Pyrenees. Take the cable car from La Mongie and enjoy the stunning mountain views along with the museum, restaurant and shop.




AQUENSIS The thermal spa of Aquensis is situated in Bagneres de Bigorre, just 15 minutes drive from Gite du Midi.  The spa offers thermal pools, saunas, hamans, roof top jacussis and relaxing treatments.


RACQUET WALKING Enjoy winter walking on the numerous trails surrounding Gite du Midi.  Raquettes can be hired locally.
