The Pyrenees is a paradise for walkers offering endless marked walks for all levels.  Walk directly from the gite or take a short car ride and explore the breathtaking national parks mountain lakes and wildlife.    Visit the Pont d’Espagne and Pyrenean National Parks.



CYCLING  ***  The Tour de France will be passing our village on July 18 and finishes on Tourmalet 20 July 2019***

Made famous by the Tour de France, this area is a Mecca for cyclists.  Whether you prefer the quiet back lanes or the more challenging routes  there is something for everyone.  We are perfectly located between the famous cols of Aspin and Tourmalet and this year the Tour de France will be passing our drive en route to Tourmalet.  There are plenty of exciting tracks For VTT fans too.  We have a secure dry barn to store your bikes.  Tim and Jane are both keen cyclists and members of local clubs so can offer lots of advice regarding routes and cols.  No need to take the car – from the gite it is possible to cycle the cols of Tourmalet (the official start is in our village), Aspin,  Hourquette, Aubisque, Hautacam, Peyresourde, Azet, Soulor, Luz Ardiden, Plat d’Adet, Palombiere, not to mention the beautiful and challenging rolling hills of the Baronies.



There are a number of local equestrian centres offering both lessons and hacks.  Payolle offers pony rides around the lake for children.



This area is reknown for its trout lakes and rivers.  Fish locally in the river, at the Lac du Payolle or try your luck in the mountain lakes



Set in beautiful grounds with stunning mountain views, the Golf Country Club of Bagneres offers an 18 hole golf course



At 2877 meters above sea level the Pic du Midi is the most spectacular place  to view the complete panorama of the Pyrenees. Take the cable car from La Mongie and enjoy the stunning mountain views along with the museum, restaurant and shop.

For those seeking adventure there’s plenty to do in the Campan Valley and surrounding areas.  These include, white water rafting, adventure parks, canyoningtree climbing, escalade and parapente.

There are numerous places to visit within easy reach of Gite du Midi, historical towns   and castles, quaint villages, caves, birds of prey displays, spas, animal parks, the famous mounaques of Campan, not to mention the local markets, restaurants and shops.  If you fancy travelling further afield we are about one and a half hours drive to the Bielsa tunnel which takes you through to Spain,  two and a half hours to Biarritz on the Atlantic coast and three and half hours to Narbonne on the Mediterranean coast.
